Exquisite magazine had the opportunity to have an interview with a phenomenal woman, Alycia Michelle, a two-time cancer survivor, author, model and speaker who continues to break every barrier that comes her way. Let’s read her story!
EM- PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BRAND
My name is Alycia Michelle, I am a 43-year-old freelance model, self-published author, motivational speaker and 2x breast cancer survivor. I have been modelling since 2018 and have since evolved into the monarch for undefined beauty.
Being a brand Ambassador for: Body Kiss Lingerie, Motherhood, Sex Marijuana Podcast and Thickalicious Apparel. I have been published in magazines across the United States and Internationally. I have written 12 books and currently working on my 13th. Alycia continues to break barriers when it comes to modeling focusing on the beauty inside and outside.
EM- HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THIS FIELD?
Five years modelling, and nine years as an author.
EM- WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO INTO THIS FIELD?
My mom got me into modelling at 13, I started writing in 2007 my senior year of college. I always wanted to be a writer.
EM- TIPS ON HOW YOU STARTED?
Lots of research! I was asked to walk in a fashion show and it just took off from there. I started writing poetry during my junior/senior year of college and it went from poetry to short stories to novels.
EM- YOU ARE A FORCE TO RECKON WITH IN THE SOCIETY, HOW DID YOU GROW TO THIS LEVEL?
SUPPORT! I have the biggest yet smallest support system. My inner circle (which is about 3 people) and my kids. They have always had my back and just are my biggest cheerleaders.
EM: HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?
My work defines my success! Holding my novels in my hand, and seeing my photos in a magazine; is a success for me.
EM: IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO START YOUR CAREER OVER AGAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
NOTHING; everything happens in its own timing.
EM- EVERY BUSINESS-MINDED SUCCESSFUL PERSON HAS A STORY, WHAT CHALLENGES DID YOU FACE?
Finding the time to really perfect my craft and just staying focused.
EM- WHAT SETS YOU APART?
Well only having one breast kind of puts me in a category all by myself.
EM- YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO MANY, WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Seeing women go after their dreams regardless of their situation. I have had many women reach out to me and that’s what keeps me going and wanting to continue to do great things.
EM- WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
Being greater than the day before; each day is a challenge and that is what motivates me to keep going.
EM- IF YOU WERE TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT YOURSELF WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?
Well, I already did.. lol… F! Cancer F! Love was literally about my life at the time and it was very transparent.

Pay attention to those around you who are not happy with your success. Watch those around you who are the negative Nancy. Positivity is what you need around you for success. Once I noticed negativity in my life, I removed it.
EM- WHAT ADVICE WILL YOU GIVE TO YOUTHS WITH THE ZEAL TO GROW?
Never give up on yourself! No matter what others may think or say; YOUR DREAM is just that; YOUR DREAM! No one can tell you what your passion is; REMEMBER THAT!
