So EM took the initiative to have a one on one interview with her, let’s read up!
Tell us about You
I’m Dr Nkem Imarue, CEO of freshstart interiors, I’m an interior designer and we specialize in commercial and residential projects.
What does your Freshstart Interiors and Exteriors do?
Like I said we redesign space, transform space, commercial or residential.
How do you solve your customers challenge?
It depends on the challenge the customer brings, it could be budget challenge colour or style, we engage our customers with questions to know more, is it a business space or a residential space, your budget and more.
Who are your ideal customers?
Everyone is our customer because interior design can never go out of style, it’s an everyday thing. So everyone is customer!
Can you describe/outline your typical day?
Our day if well programmed our days are loaded with activities, we are either at the office, getting records of our previous works or we are at the site designs/installing designs or clearing goods. It’s always busy.
How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
I would say positively, it keeps you up and going, it did make me a better mum to my children, you know you need wisdom managing different clients and you learn from that an incoporate into your family life.
What motivates you?
My passion, if you don’t have a passion for what you do you can’t be motivated
How do you generate new ideas for FreshStart Interiors And Exteriors?
Researching! I read a lot about interiors, follow mentors subscribe to new trends.
What is your greatest fear?
I don’t think I have any fears
How do you define success?
The ability to sustain achievements, ability to keep improving and keep growing, that’s how I see success.
Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful entrepreneur?
I don’t believe there is any pattern or formula, but you just have to learn, train yourself and put it into action
What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
That should be seeing myself as a solution giver, creating avenue for jobs and elevating the youths. And most importantly seeing myself being useful gives me joy
How did the idea for your business come about?
It’s an inborn gift, right from my childhood I use to have dreams about changing and designing space and when I became older I decided to learn more about it
What advice would you give to people who want to become entrepreneurs?
First of all know your purpose, entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone, understand yourself and business
If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Nothing really, probably improve more and be more creative
What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
1. Know God
2. Have a passion for what you do
3. Learn and research more
What entrepreneurial tricks have you discovered to keep you focused in a busy schedule?
Take one step at a time, you can’t do everything at once
Who has been your greatest inspiration?
In as much as I don’t want to sound spiritual but I would say God and some mentors.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?
I don’t really know lol.
