Is a home workout really what you need now? Of course it is!

At the break of the pandemic and the call for states lockdown and quarantine, a lot of us made schedules and plans on how we would get better.

We knew the apps to use to increase productivity at work, we signed up for one or two online classes, picked up on a new language but have we stopped to think about our health and how to make it better?

There are a lot of people who use the stay at your home policy as an excuse to avoid home workout, while others started taking care of themselves and maybe stopped halfway because ‘I wasn’t expecting COVID to stay this long’.

Well, if you fall into any of the categories, this is for you.

Simple ways to do a Home Workout And How To Keep At It.

1. Accept That Gyms Aren’t Opened

This may have to be one of the biggest acceptances a gym fanatic would have to do for him or herself. You have to accept that gyms are not allowed to open yet, so as to cleanse yourself from the all or nothing way of thinking.

Forget that you have to spend hours at the gym or force yourself into painful and monotonous activities before feeling like you are achieving something.

Remember, it is better to get a little home workout going, than to have no physical activities at all.

2. Check Your Expectations

I would argue that a lot of us give up on exercising because we do not see results after 2 days and I would argue this because I do it even more frequently than you would guess.

Check your expectations! It is as simple as reminding yourself that you are doing okay, and not blaming yourself for how far back you have fallen since quarantine. It is okay to be upset but no pressure okay?

Just make sure you are setting realistic expectations and goals when it comes to exercising from home…because what are the chances your personal trainer lives with you?

3. Get A Checkmate

I did this for a couple of months last year and it helped. What do I mean by getting a checkmate?
A checkmate is simply a workout buddy who reminds you when it is time to exercise, what to eat, what to avoid, and basically motivates you.

It is even cooler if your checkmate is a friend and you get to do this together. So have your closest friend agree to exercise from home, decide on a time to do it together (if you live separately, you could schedule a video call for that time and watch each other exercise).

4. Ease Into It For A Start

If you have never worked out before, this isn’t a time to go all-in, try starting with the little
workouts, maybe skipping, squats and others.

Don’t choose activities like running or lifting weights at the gym just because you think that’s what you should do. Instead, pick activities that fit your lifestyle and abilities.

5. Reward Yourself

You’ve made it this far, how about some acknowledgments for all your efforts and progress so far. When you are starting an exercise program, especially from home, it is important to give yourself immediate rewards when you successfully complete a  certain home workout or reach a new fitness goal. It can be something as simple as having a spa day, some pedicure and manicure, or a hot bath.

There you have it, hope you take good notes of these tips and stick to your home workout schedules.
