Victory Wilson: The Voice of Impact, Excellence, and Transformation 1

Victory Wilson: A Trailblazing Voice in Media, Impacting Empowering Lives Through Journalism, Events, and Advocacy

EM: You’ve received prestigious honors like the BON TV Presenter of the Year 2023 and the Media Personality Award in Accra. How do these accolades inspire you to keep pushing boundaries in your career?

Victory Wilson: I remain grateful and humbled for all the recognitions I receive; thankful to God for making it all happen. However, my ultimate life goal is to make a meaningful impact in every way I can. My passion for my industry grew when I realized the positive influence my TV shows have on people’s lives. From Streetwise to the inspiring Amazing Kids Show, to writing my book, ‘Mastering the Art of Presentation’ , to The Victory Wilson Show, and hosting both corporate and social events with excellence — it’s the smiles on people’s faces, the children I’ve helped find their platform to shine, the voice I’ve given to the vulnerable, and the guidance my shows have provided that bring me fulfilment. These moments of connection fuel my drive, and I am always seeking new ways to create solutions, make a difference, and leave the world a little better than I found it. This purpose is what keeps me going every day.

EM: With over 30,000 hours of live broadcasting experience, what has been the most memorable or challenging moment you’ve faced on air, and how did you handle it?

Victory Wilson: During the END SARS protest, reporting from the Lekki Toll Gate presented significant challenges, as many were hesitant to engage with the media. Fortunately, my experience with “Streetwise,” my first television show, had prepared me for such situations. On “Streetwise,” I had navigated various cities to gather public opinions on national issues, which taught me how to handle unwelcoming crowds and manage tense interactions. Despite initial difficulties, we eventually built rapport with the protesters, leading to compelling coverage. We were able to capture their perspectives and even engage them in activities like dancing to the music at the protest site. It was a memorable and impactful experience that I will never forget

EM: Hosting high-profile events like Miss Universe Nigeria requires poise and precision. What’s your preparation process like, and how do you handle the pressure of live events?

Victory: The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant stands as Africa’s premier beauty competition, and it’s a true honor to have had the privilege of hosting it for two consecutive years. Hosting live events demands not only expertise but also the ability to adapt on the spot. Miss Universe Nigeria, in particular, tests your spontaneity, requiring quick thinking and composure under pressure. For me, managing unseen pressures comes down to keeping the audience at the forefront of my mind. By staying focused on their experience, I can ensure the event flows seamlessly and everyone enjoys a memorable show.

EM: Being a member of Forbes BLK and an MTN MIP Fellow is an incredible achievement. How have these platforms helped shape your perspective as a broadcast journalist and international compère?

Victory: The MTN MIP is a key certification that has helped broaden my horizon as a broadcast journalist and international compere while being a member of Forbes BLK has enhanced connection with people across borders. There’s more to an individual who is a broadcast journalist than just being a broadcast journalist. There’s the nitty gritty of the job, the financial aspect which many of us tend to ignore for the sake of following passion and in the end doesn’t do us well when we need to pay bills. The MIP course enlightened me on everything from law to finance to media and everything in between and the changes are evident as it has made me more strategic in my career and refined my purpose in innovative ways.

EM: Your show provides a platform for individuals dealing with trauma. What inspired you to create The Victory Wilson Show, and what has been the most rewarding feedback you’ve received from your audience?

Victory: The Victory Wilson Show is dedicated to helping individuals heal from traumatic experiences and navigate life’s challenges by offering professional therapeutic solutions through certified therapists, counsellors, and psychiatrists. This show was created to bridge the gap in access to therapy and bring healing closer to those who need it. Many people face life’s difficulties and carry trauma they often feel unable to talk about. We believe that the more healed and whole people we have, the better our world becomes. You can watch full episodes on YouTube at VictoryWilsonTV and catch highlights on social media via @victorywilsontv and @_victorywilson.

The feedback we’ve received from each episode of the show, currently airing on TV, has been nothing short of amazing—humbling and deeply heartwarming. What resonates with me the most are the live participants sharing how much better and more healed they feel after their therapeutic sessions. It’s incredibly rewarding. And when I read comments from viewers who say that simply watching the show has helped them navigate their own life challenges, it truly blows my mind. I’m beyond grateful and it fuels my passion to keep doing more. This isn’t just a show—it’s a transformative project, and we’re only just beginning.

There’s so much more to come! Join us on this journey, and together, let’s make the world a better place.

EM: As the convener of The Amazing Kids Show Children’s Day Talent Fair, you’ve demonstrated your passion for empowering young people. Why is nurturing talent in children such an important part of your work?

Victory: First and foremost, being the convener of one of the largest children’s talent fairs is an incredible privilege. I’m inspired by the fact that Nigeria is home to an abundance of remarkable talents. From 5-year-old authors to 12-15-year-old UI/UX designers, software engineers, and programmers, it’s truly awe-inspiring to see the skills our young people possess. My mission is simple: to show the world that Africa, and Nigeria in particular, are blessed with a wealth of untapped potential, and the future is unbelievably bright. It’s crucial that we tell our own stories, and I’ve made it my purpose to showcase these extraordinary talents in every way I can. The most rewarding part is seeing some of these young stars go on to represent Nigeria on global platforms. It fills me with pride and fuels my determination to keep pushing forward.

EM: You are a multi-award-winning journalist, international events compère, voiceover artist, author, and advocate for trauma support. How do you manage to excel in all these roles while staying focused and balanced?

Victory: IT’S GOD and to Him be all the Glory. This isn’t all of me; Better is not good enough, the best is yet to come.

EM: As someone who has achieved so much, how do you personally define success, and what keeps you grounded in the face of such achievements?

Victory: While I am deeply grateful for the recognitions I’ve received and continue to receive, to me, success is about more than accolades. It’s about reaching a point where I can give back in every way possible—physically, emotionally, and financially. I’m still a work in progress, and I don’t consider myself to have “arrived” yet. What drives me every day is the relentless pursuit of doing more, being more, and making a meaningful impact on others. That constant drive keeps me motivated, focused, and always pushing forward. It’s what keeps me on my toes.

EM: What are your next big goals? Are there any new projects or aspirations you’re excited to share with us?

Victory: Like I said earlier, this is not all of me; there’s still room for me to be more, to do more by the grace of God. Better is not good enough, the best is yet to come.
