She said:
“I’m constantly taking photos of people who I love, who inspire me who make me laugh, who turn work days into adventures, who I appreciate, and who I want to celebrate. This journal is a small piece of that collection; the people and faces that make up my everlasting fashion tour… through my eyes”,
The first edition/part of the Gigi Journal was published, and it featured photos of people like Nicki Minaj, Marc Jacobs and Alessandro Michele taken by Gigi Hadid.
The Gigi Journal Part 2, however, holds more of a deeper meaning to Gigi who, in her Editor’s letter, said:
I noticed a recurring theme via social media: many people were finding peace in isolation through working with their hands and being creative. With so many of us having to adapt to the way we carried out our jobs while working remotely, dedicating this issue to visual artists seemed like the best way the V team and I could accommodate this new normal, while simultaneously making something that could resonate with people.
This is very applaudable, as it is good to see that the pandemic, though devastating, has birthed a lot of creativity. Through this, the Gigi Journal Part 2 paints a good picture of making lemonade out of the lemons of life.
Gigi Journal Part 2 drops at select newsstands in the U.S. today.
Here’s her Instagram post about it:
Asides the pandemic, Gigi also places focus on amplifying Black-American voices in this journal. Regarding this, she said
With only about a week left till this journal’s deadline, at the heights of the protests in the U.S. and around the globe, I felt strongly that it was important to me and a responsibility of mine and V magazine to make sure we are amplifying black-American voices, using this platform and priviledge. Looking back, the Black Lives Matter will be one of the most affecting and important part of Quaranti[m]e for most V readers
Though the part-two journal isn’t out for viewing yet, people are already making pre-orders from the V Magazine official website.
