TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR STYLE
Hi, my name is Bibiresanmi Amodu; shortened to ‘Bibi Raii’.
I’m an OAP at Beat 99.9fm Lagos and a video jockey for MTV Base. When it comes to style, I see it as more than what you wear. I think it’s what you wear, how you wear it, how you carry yourself, even down to how you smell!
I’d describe my style as sexy, glam, and fun. Fashion and style to me are all about experimenting and not being afraid to switch it up and try new things.
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR INNER HEALTH?
I genuinely believe health, particularly inner health is wealth.
I’ve been on a journey of self-improvement regarding my mental and spiritual well-being since 2022. So currently; I like to meditate, at least twice a week for 10mins; the calm and peace of your mind you feel after is amazing!
In addition to that, every morning the first thing I listen to in my car, on my way to my radio show is affirmations; I believe in speaking positivity into yourself.
When done with affirmations, I tune in to Next Level Prayers every morning, so make sure I start my day off right with the Lord!
PERSONAL BEAUTY TIPS?
Sleep well, drink water, and mind your business! I’m joking! But, low-key, getting enough rest and drinking water is life!
There’s a certain kind of radiance you get when you’re well-rested and hydrated and it’s something you can’t fake or fix with makeup.
For me, the biggest flex is looking radiant with little or no makeup.
BEAUTY PRODUCT (S) I CAN’T DO WITHOUT
I absolutely can’t live without foundation, mascara, eyebrow pencils, and bronze!
Every other thing I can get by without, but those items are the holy grail!
WHAT IS IN MY MAKEUP BAG CURRENTLY?
Oo that’s a long list, but I’ll get into my fav bits!
Okay so right now I’ve got my Maybelline mascara, Nars foundation, Nars concealer, Laura Mericier setting powder, beauty blender, a couple of brushes, Too Faced bronzer, a contour powder palette, mink eyelashes, some lipstick, lipgloss, eyebrow pencil.
FAVOURITE SKIN CARE PRODUCT AND WHY?
I love The OrdinaryAlpha Arbutin 2% +HA. It’s a super lightweight, easy-to-apply, and reasonably priced serum that not only moisturizes but also has hyaluronic acid which reduces skin wrinkles and lines. Hyaluronic acid is also proven to help wounds heal faster and can reduce scarring.
FULL-ON MAKEUP OR NATURAL?
Honestly, I love full glam as much as the next girl, but I think the biggest flex is looking beautiful natural!
YOUR QUICK MAKEUP REMOVAL TIP?
A lot of people don’t know that coconut oil is incredibly effective when it comes to removing makeup. But honestly, nothing beats just washing your face with a deep cleansing face wash, your face will thank you.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SCENT AND WHY?
I’m currently obsessed with Kilian’s – Love, Don’t Be Shy perfume simply because it smells like heaven.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE HAIRCARE PRODUCTS AND WHY?
Anything Shea Moisture when it comes to shampoo and conditioners is it for me. I think the key to healthy natural hair is a great hydration routine that includes a great leave-in conditioner. O and Black Jamaican Castor Oil; my edges went back to glory when I was consistent with my castor oil application.
WIGS OR WEAVE?
Wig 100%. I love that one minute I can be Bibi Raii on the red carpet, and the next I can be Bibiresanmi with cornrows eating garri with ice.
FAVOURITE FASHION TRICK?
Fitting is EVERYTHING! Better tailored outfits just look better- so If I have something really cute that doesn’t quite look right, I’m not afraid to get it amended so it fits like a glove.
FAVOURITE DESIGNER?
I love the elegant simplicity of Jacquemas pieces, but also love the feminine, silently sophisticated vibe of Chanel.
ONE ITEM YOU THINK EVERY GIRL SHOULD OWN?
Every girl should own at least one designer bag. Even with the most basic outfit a designer bag just gives the look, that final oomph!
LAST PURCHASE?
A pair of diamante heels.
I FEEL MOST SEXY WHEN I’M WEARING…
I feel the most sexy when I’m in sexy nightwear, smelling good, and fresh out of the shower! A total vibe
FASHION RULE I LIVE BY
Less is more!
I know in Nigeria, a lot of our favourite style icons love doing the most, but I feel like there is class and elegance in simplicity. On the other side, sometimes… More is more! Because if you don’t give them, how will they take them!?
NAME YOUR FAVORITE PIECE IN YOUR WARDROBE
There are honestly too many beautiful pieces in my wardrobe, but my fave has to be a beautiful gold clutch bag that was given to me by my grandma.
SIGNATURE ACCESSORIES?
Big gold earrings, if I had to be specific, hoops. Pairing any outfit with big gold or even silver earrings automatically gives your outfit that extra oomph!
WHO WOULD YOU CONSIDER STYLISH AND WHY?
UK Tv & Radio host Maya Jama has to be my all-time favourite style icon. She effortlessly slays regardless of whether she’s at the races, or hosting a beach party in Ibiza.
WHO INFLUENCED YOUR STYLE?
The first person that comes to mind is obviously BadGalRiri! Do I need to say why!?
HOW OFTEN DO YOU REPEAT OUTFITS?
So this question is tricky because the truth is, it depends.
Regular lounge clothes, etc, obviously wear them. But when it comes to custom-made pieces for red carpets or events; I’m not going to lie, I don’t wear them more than once.
However, what I would like to start doing is switching up pre-existing custom pieces for a new look. I’m beginning to run out of closet space!
DO YOU FOLLOW TRENDS?
I appreciate trends and sometimes incorporate them, but I don’t just follow trends blindly. I think my personal style is more timeless than trends, because they consistently change, especially in the world of fashion. Besides, I believe in the allure of originality, especially when it comes to style.
FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION AND WHY?
When it comes to the places I have been to, I think it would be between Malta and Croatia. If we’re looking at a dream holiday destination, it would have to be Bora Bora or the Bahamas. I love all things sun, sand, and surf! (Even though I don’t know how to swim!)
DESCRIBE YOUR ULTIMATE PARTY DRESS
I’ve got two moods. I either want something classy and chic, probably white (considering that’s my favorite color), or I want something glittery, with feathers, a corset, and maybe even gold!
I think the kind of ‘ultimate’ party dress, ultimately depends on the party and my vibe that day.
