Tell us about Yourself

I’m Fatima Omobolanle Salami, CEO/Lead planner for TeemazEvents. I specialize in both social and cooperate event planning. For Social, especially weddings, I work with couples to make the details of the wedding flow smoothly and assist with the selection and management of the event vendors to allow the couple to enjoy memories of a lifetime.

I have been opportune to participate in the celebration of some of life’s greatest milestones, be it weddings, birthdays, proposals, anniversaries, bridal showers, the business end-of-the-year party, conference, etc.

What does your business do and how it started

TeemazEvents is a full event planning and decorations company focusing on corporate events, social events and weddings.

It started when I was in university, I’ve always been up and doing in helping my friends, family and colleagues to organize events, then I thought why not start this as a business venture since I always enjoy it, the rest they say is history.

How do you solve your customer’s challenge?

I make sure I know what they want as their dream event and try as much as possible to bring it to reality, for those that are indecisive due to budget, I try as much as possible to give them a realistic idea that will go with their budgets.

Who are your ideal customers?

My ideal clients are people who know their onions, are realistic and also trust me enough to help them in bringing their dream events into reality.

Can you describe/outline your typical day?

My typical day;

Wake up

Pray to God

Do a little exercise if I’m not feeling tired

Shower

Eat my breakfast

Talk to my clients

Check out an area for an event centre with the same capacity I’m on the lookout for.

Schedule a meeting with my vendors to make sure we are on the same page.

In between checking my social media account to know I don’t have any pending messages.

Come back home and rest for the day.

How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

Being an entrepreneur has not really in any way affected my family life, rather it gives me ample time to myself, all I need to do is map out time and make sure I follow accordingly even though sometimes emergencies occur.

What motivates you?

Getting good reviews and constructive criticism from my clients motivate me to do better and be better.

What is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is poverty and bad health, I don’t want to be poor and I don’t want to be terminally ill, I want to be able to afford the beautiful things of life for myself, my family and my future kids. I don’t want to be at the mercy of anyone for anything.

How do you define success?

For me, I believe success is when I’m also able to impact the people around me positively, everyone around me is getting things done and they don’t have to wait for me to do everything for them.

The fact that I own my time and I decide on what to use it for is not forced.

I would wish I have enough money to be trained at a bigger training platform before I started.

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Communications skills

Time Management

Teamwork

Who has been your greatest inspiration?

Myself

I’ve been my greatest inspiration, the way I move through life’s difficulties against all odds has been my inspiration.

What advice would you give to people who want to become entrepreneurs?

If you are in a rush to make money and get to the top, then entrepreneurship is not for you, because it takes the process to get there no matter how much you have the support of everyone in this world, also every day is not a Christmas Day in the business world, some days are for you while some are not, on the days that are not for you, you don’t give up, you strategize.

What business-related book has inspired you the most?

The Smart Money Tribe by Arese Agwu
