Exquisite Magazine is ecstatic to share this private interview with the producer of The Olive season 2 movie with you. Esse Akwawa has over 12 years of experience in the movie industry, let’s read up on her story!
EM- PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
My name is Esse Akwawa, I am a Film/Tv Producer and Director, a creative consultant and an all-round Jesus baby. I say things as they are and I am not afraid to admit my faults. I currently work at Accelerate Tv as the Head of Production.
EM- HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE MOVIE INDUSTRY?
I have been in the industry for about 12 years which has spanned through Artist Management, Event Management, Tv Presenting, Filmmaking, Producing and Directing.
EM- WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO INTO IT?
I’ve always been an entertainment head, I knew from a very young age that I was going to be in the entertainment industry but I didn’t know what aspect of it, my dad used to say I was going to be a great newscaster.
However, when I started, it was as a Tv presenter and I later went on to be a magazine editor at my university, the rest they say is history. I am a filmmaker today because I don’t see myself doing anything more fulfilling than this at least for now.
EM- TIPS ON HOW YOU STARTED AND WHAT KEPT YOU MOTIVATED?
I started my filmmaking journey at a company called Audio Visual First, my friend Eloho Okumo introduced me to the MD Mr Adeyinka Oduniyi, I didn’t know anything about production at the time but YK like we fondly call him, was patient with me.
He taught me the rudiments of production. I started as a production coordinator and gradually rose up the ladder to become a producer.
I am forever grateful to him for that opportunity to learn and become the person I am today in my filmmaking journey. What kept me motivated throughout my journey is the passion I have for the craft, despite all the challenges, giving up was never an option for me.
EM- YOU ARE A FORCE TO RECKON WITH IN THE SOCIETY, HOW DID YOU GROW TO THIS LEVEL?
Lol, I’m not yet a force to reckon with in society. However, I know of some people who look up to me for guidance and career mentoring. I hope that someday, I will be a force to reckon with not just in my society but in the world at large, proudly representing Nigeria and putting Nollywood on the map of the world stage.
EM- THE LONG AWAITED OLIVE SEASON 2 PREMIER IS HERE, TELL US A BIT OF WHAT TO EXPECT
This season is really one to look out for, I mean the suspense and adrenaline are out of control.
Season 1 was just a teaser. Expect your favorite characters to betray you and expect the good guys to become bad. It’s truly a season of good people doing bad things.

I am the Producer of this season, I also Produced season 1.
