EM got the opportunity to have a private interview session on a beautiful Sunday evening with this sensational fashion designer, Victoria Charles Chioma who hails from Anambra state. Her designs are exceptional so we seized the opportunity to put our spotlight on her.
Here are her answers to our questions:
HOW AND WHEN DID YOUR JOURNEY BEGIN?
I started with the help of my mom, she has been in the fashion business for over 30 years. I always enjoyed visiting her workshop when I was in secondary school. I have been in the fashion industry for 14 years now, but I officially started my clothing brand in 2011WHAT’S YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?

WHAT’S BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENTS AS A DESIGNER?
Honestly, it has to be when my clients come for their fittings and they are super happy with the work. Also when I made it to the top 20 finalists for the Fashion Focus Africa sponsored by Lagos fashion week. They got over a thousand applications from different African countries and I made it to the top
WHAT’S BEEN YOUR WORST MOMENTS AS A DESIGNER?
Would be when my tailors fail to get an order right. The times I have had dissatisfied clients.
ON A SCALE OF 1-10, WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR RESPONSE FROM CUSTOMER SATISFACTION?
I would say 8
WHAT MAKES YOUR BRAND DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS?
God is the head creative director and he gives me fresh creative ideas. Our pieces are uncommon, detailed, rare, and not trendy. Our original VC pieces are not copy and paste. Some of our pieces have been mass-produced by strangers I see them online and just smile.
KINDLY SHARE TIPS FOR STAYING SUCCESSFUL IN THIS BUSINESS
Consistency is key. Be very creative, and think outside the box. Don’t always follow trends. Don’t do it without God.
WHAT ADVICE WILL YOU GIVE TO START-UPS WHO HAVE A SIMILAR VISION AS YOU DO?
You need to have the passion and talent to make it. It is not child’s play, you don’t just get into it because others are doing it and maybe you think it’s profitable. You will definitely fail if you have that mindset.
Be super creative, be consistent, Know the craft, Be humble, do your research.
