Fashion design has always been a passion for Adenle Magret Oluwafumbi, regardless of her degree as a Mechatronic Engineer, Magret has pushed her fashion career by launching her husband brand Seamscool Couture.
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND BRAND
I am Adenle Magret Oluwafunmbi, a Mechatronics Engineer and the Creative Director of SEAMSCOOL COUTURE.
Seamscool Couture is an elegant ladies’ custom apparel brand that studies fashion trends, creates elegant designs, selects colours and fabrics that best suit the style and sees to the final production of the design.
HOW AND WHEN DID YOUR JOURNEY BEGIN
I have always had a passion for Fashion design and even when my environment was not so supportive of the whole idea, I still found a way to build my interest. I learnt to use the sewing machine in primary school from patching my school uniform to slim-fitting house wears. It was not until COVID lockdown period that I decided to learn how to properly cut fabrics to make dresses and I learnt majorly via YouTube videos. I started making clothes for my friends in school for free and when I felt confident enough to start making money with it, I founded Seamscool Couture in 2020 and since its inception, it has strived for nothing but the best.

WHO ARE YOUR IDEAL TARGET AUDIENCE?
Women of all sizes who are lovers of Fashion.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT AS A FASHION DESIGNER?
Birthing a platform where Fashion Designers can take a break from work and come together to have fun and most importantly, connect with like minds. It is called FASHION DESIGNERS HANGOUT by COUTURIERS CLUB owned by my colleague JUPILO FASHION and I. The second edition happened in July this year.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR WORST MOMENT AS A FASHION DESIGNER?
I wouldn’t really say I have had a worse moment. I take everything that happen as a lesson learnt. It’s either I learnt another way to do it better or not to do it.
ON A SCALE OF 1-10, WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR RESPONSE FROM CUSTOMER SATISFACTION?
I’ll say 8. I make couture dresses and fitting sessions must take place because couture dresses are made to specific measurements and some designs are better done on the client except in situations where the client is indisposed. So it’s quite easy to make adjustments where need be.
WHAT MAKES YOUR BRAND DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS?
Seamscool Couture is not just a fashion brand like others. It is an inclusive brand that caters to all sizes of women especially plus size women that find it difficult to get couture dresses that fit perfectly.
KINDLY SHARE TIPS TO STAYING SUCCESSFUL IN THIS BUSINESS.
One major thing that has helped me is having a community of people who are in the same business as me. It’s okay to make mistakes but mistakes can be avoided by learning from other people.
WHAT ADVICE WILL YOU GIVE TO STARTUPS WHO HAVE THE SAME VISION AS YOU DO?
Niche!!!. It is very important. Let your brand be known for something. It’s okay to dabble into different things but let one thing stand out as your identity.

1. I’m either in or out, you can never catch me on the fence.
2. I’m socially awkward. I don’t know how to make friends but I somehow have good friends around me and if you get close enough, you’ll experience the sweet playful child in me.
3. Whenever I set my mind to do something, I don’t stop until I get it done.
4. I learn a lot and I believe I can learn from anybody at any level.
5. I put up a tough front but I’m actually a softie.
