Youth should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. If Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace. Also, perhaps they are left on society’s margins, all of us will be impoverished.
Empowering the youth is the aim of the Style Camera Action event ; An initiative of Aprilseed company.
The Style Camera action event is a platform for young and budding entrepreneurs in the fashion industry, to carve their niche and showcase their work.
The maiden event which was held at the Silverbird galleria, witnessed sixteen participants in four categories, namely: Make-up artistry, fashion Blogging, photography and fashion styling. The sixteen participants were trained and examined by notable artists( Paul Ukonu ; Director of Paul Ukonu photography, Sade Akintade : C.E.O Beauty by queen Make-up studio and Damilola Oke of Fierce and Modish styling) in an open stage contest to a wide audience.
At the event, Miss Edidiong Eyire, C.E.O Aprilseed during her speech, said she came up with this initiative because she observed that lot of young people in Nigeria are talented but lack enough platforms for expression. She stressed that it is better for youth to put their talent to good use and that is why the Style Camera Action event is set to encourage young people in different fields and give them a form of exposure in the industry. She emphasized the need for government and corporate bodies to create more platforms that encourage creativity , especially those in artistic fields such as fashion entrepreneurs.
The high point of the event was when the winners were announced. The winners from the four categories were: Grace Ekpu (photography) a female photographer, Ushang Adah(make up artistry), Eniola makinde (fashion styling) , Idris Ayinla (fashion blogging),and Ohaeme harret ebere the best model of the day and miss beauty and brain 2015.

While giving the winners their prizes,Mr Daniel Sanya , C.E.O of Xdios Designs advised young entrepreneurs saying “Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t. The journey will always be tough at the beginning but if you keep marching on with faith in God, self and your dream then success is assured:. In conclusion with a quote by Napoleon Hill

Some invited guests at the event are ;Tara Fela Durotoye, Zizi Cardow and Adegoke Coker, who were given recognition awards for their impact in the industry and on young people.
The winner prizes included magazine features with two top magazine brands in Nigeria which includes EXQUISITE MAGAZINE, mentorship and training by professionals in the industry and media exposure.
