The International Women’s society, (IWS Nigeria) recently held its annual November Luncheon and fundraiser, a gathering of members and non-members, to network and raise funds for IWS’ projects.
This year’s event which also commemorated its 65th anniversary was held at the beautiful Kaly Restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos and led by the current President, Mrs IfeomaMonye.
The event was attended by women from different generations including Chief Mrs. Arthur Worrey, the oldest serving trustee and chairman of the board, past presidents Gbemi Shasore, Ego Boyo, Marlies Allan, Nkoli Obi-Ogbolu, Sicily Jacobs, IzareneAdams as well as the current VP, Izabella Abia-Okon, and many other women in various capacities.
Projects to be executed from the fundraiser include the IWS Scholarship Program, Mentorship for Teenage Girls, Chess Education for Girls & Women, STEAM Education for Girls, IWS Skills Acquisition Center. IWS Day Nursery, Widows Trust Fund and women empowerment.
Compered by media personality Latasha Ngwube, some highlights of the event included a rousing rendition of the National anthem by actress and comedienne Chigul.
There was also a mini catwalk featuring designs by fashion graduates of the Skills Acquisition Center, a powerful spoken word segment by young artiste and poet Hafsat Abdullahi and a raffle draw with amazing prizes.
