Ladunni Lambo named her fashion brand after herself and since she began the journey as a designer, it has been all phases of amazing. Enjoy her designer dossier interview with EM’s DAMILOLA SHOTE
HOW DID THE JOURNEY BEGIN?
From childhood, Ladunni Lambo knew she wanted to be a fashion designer, she pursued this dream aggressively and went ahead to study Fashion Design in Nottingham Trent University. After her graduation in 2012, she moved back to Nigeria and spent a year learning and understanding more of what the industry has to offer, and later showcased a collection at Lagos Fashion and Design Week in 2013 as part of the Fashion Focus contestants. Afterwards, she took a step back to hone her skills, spending two years as the head designer for Frankie & Co, an in house brand for fashion retail store Grey Velvet. Upon leaving in 2016, she knew it was time to go out into the world and finally launch her own brand. Showcasing her first official collection A Wife For Nana in 2016, this collection told the story of a young woman’s struggle with accepting her forceful marriage to the the village chief. This collection was well received, and highly favoured amongst the fashion community, and since then, the brand has been worn by renowned novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, featured on influential fashion website, Models.com, and is also stocked at Spanish e-commerce store, La Fenestra. As the brand grows, Ladunni will continue to push her boundaries in creativity, style and innovation, sharing her stories and beliefs through each collection.
WHATS YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?
I don’t particularly have a signature style, but I can say I seem to do a lot of statement sleeves, the synched-in-waist look, and high waisted trousers.
WHATS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENTS AS A DESIGNER?
So far, just making the decision to start has been the best moment, so many great moments followed after, but starting was the defining moment of my life and the brand.

I try to keep my weekends free of any work whatsoever, to rest and spend time with friends.
