Exquisite magazine got the opportunity to have an interview with the co-founder of joeyemmy foods, Olayemi Ayanbanjo. Joeyemmy Foods is keen on producing 100% natural and hygienic products. Let’s read more about her story.
Tell us about Yourself
My name is Olayemi Ayanbanjo, the Co-founder of Joeyemmy Foods which is a subsidiary of Joeyemmy Ventures Nigeria Limited. I am married to a wonderful man with two great boys. I work with Veepee Industries Limited a flexible packaging company as the Assistant Production Planner and I am also an entrepreneur.
What does your business do and how it started?
Joeyemmy Foods is into manufacturing Natural and hygienic Foods, for domestic consumption, industrial utilization, and export purposes. Our products are Natural Cooking Seasoning, Natural Cooking Spices (Jollof and Fried rice), Natural detoxify tea, Natural Food supplement and Natural sweetener which are 100% pure, free of artificial additives, colouring, or preservatives.
Thereby promoting our customers’ health. Having Known that most of cooking seasoning contains monosodium glutamate which is toxic in human bodies and has been linked to several health challenges. This informed our decision as a company to venture into the natural cooking seasoning and other natural products that are very essential to human bodies.
How do you solve your customer’s challenge?
We solve our customer challenges by providing 100% natural products that are free of monosodium glutamate and hydrogenated oil which are toxic to human bodies and have been linked to several health challenges.
Who are your ideal customers?
Our ideal customers include health-conscious people who are greatly conscious about their health looking for the best possible solution to improve their health in Nigeria and beyond ranging from every home (Housewives, Secondary and Tertiary Students) and Health Sectors.
We also target reputable Shops in marketplaces starting from Ikeja, Lagos Island, such as Hotels, Eateries/Restaurants, Events Planners, Hospitals, Schools, Airlines, Grocery shops, Malls, and Distributors.
Can you describe/outline your typical day?
My Mondays- Fridays -I wake up as early as 5.00 a.m, say my prayer and listen to my daily bible till 5.30 a.m. Prepare meal by 7.30 a.m. Put every order into place and plan on how to deliver. Prepare myself for work and resume by 9.00a.m; My Saturdays are for processing and production of our Products and Planned for next week. My Sundays are for church and resting days.
How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
Being an entrepreneur has been the greatest experience I ever desire and it has shaped me into the great woman I ever want to be. I feel fulfilled solving problems of people and impacting people’s lives.
What motivates you?
Helping people achieve their dreams and goals by giving them the courage to go for what they desire.
What is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is fear of not fulfilling my dreams.
How do you define success?
Success is being able to achieve some of your target goals and not giving up on others.
What is your favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
My favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur is using my ideas to improve and promotes people’s health.
If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
I would choose to be an entrepreneur at an earlier age and be able to acquire more knowledge to grow and scale up my business.
What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
I would say Leadership, being able to delegate, Communication and listening skills.
Who has been your greatest inspiration?
My greatest inspirations are Mrs Folorunsho Alakija and Mrs Ibukun Awosika.
What advice would you give to people who want to become entrepreneurs?
My advice is they should make hay while the sunshine’s.

My most favourite books are the richest man in Babylon (George S. CLASON) and Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill
