EM- PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND BRAND

I’m Kovini and I’m passionate about women, knowing, owning and celebrating their personal power, and strength and valuing their worth. I am the Founder of Boss Babes of South Africa, a female empowerment platform well-renowned in South Africa. I am a Chartered Accountant by profession and love integrating my knowledge sharing and voice to inspire professional women across South Africa.

Boss Babes of South Africa has a significant audience on both Instagram and LinkedIn, our mission is for women to believe in their dreams and chase their goals.

Boss Babes of South Africa turned 3 years old on ‘ March 2023. It has been an incredible journey and a phenomenal opportunity to serve and give back.

EM- WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO INTO THIS FIELD?

I want women to be able to own and celebrate their power and hence I created the platform to motivate, inspire and uplift SA women across all industries. I believe that women need to beconfident, self-assured and well aware of their worth.

EM- TIPS ON HOW YOU STARTED?

I defined a strategy plan for the network platform and sourced inspirational SA women to join the moment and lend their voices to the platform. We were honoured to have powerful, trailblazing women join and celebrate our voices.

EM- YOU ARE A FORCE TO RECKON WITH IN THE SOCIETY, HOW DID YOU GROW TO THIS LEVEL?

It really was all about self-belief and wanting to make a societal impact on the women of SA. By leveraging my authentic voice and personal life journey including experiences, stemming from humble beginnings in KZN, I was able to share content that was relatable, inspiring and powerful. I believe that our stories are Unique and being able to share them could empower others to also live their best lives.

EM: HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?

Success is being comfortable with who you are and what you bring to the table. Success is also being able to play to your strengths and impact causes bigger than one’s self. It’s about knowing your worth and being authentic about who you are.

EM: IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO START YOUR CAREER OVER AGAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?

I believe that every single moment of my journey has led me to exactly where I need to be at this point in my life. I would only be braver and speak up sooner. I believe that sometimes not standing up for ourselves because of certain stereotypes will hold us back in terms of our successes in life.

EM- WHAT SETS YOU APART?

I believe that we are all multifaceted women and we have different aspects that contribute to our joy and our purpose daily. I have chosen to integrate all aspects of my life, to live a life of contentment and purpose. I believe it is imperative for women to know themselves and be themselves in a way that allows their highest potential to be fulfilled on earth.

EM- YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO MANY, WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

I am inspired by individuals who make a difference and love uplifting others. Personally, I am most inspired by the teachings of Oprah and the Story of Michelle Obama. I love watching powerful stories of women who succeed despite the odds.

EM- WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

I am motivated by doing hard work and being rewarded for it.Being able to see the walk mat I bring both in my professionalcareer and personal impact for Boss Babes keeps me motivated.we

EM- IF YOU WERE TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT YOURSELF WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?

I think it would be an Autobiography sharing my challenges and how I overcame them. I believe it will be liberating and possibly a very relatable stay for other women of colour who may havefaced similar journeys in their lives. I believe our stories will all have similarities that be utilised as learnings and also stories of personal power.
