Tell us about Yourself
My name is Aza Becky Samantha. I’m a freelance journalist, an event planner and decorator and a serial entrepreneur. I’m the creative director of 5BAYS EVENTS COMPANY.
What does your business do and how it started
5BAYS EVENTS COMPANY is a full-service event management company. We plan/decorate all kinds of events ranging from social to corporate events. We also plan proposals and bridal/baby showers.
My business started on September 2021, I started this business not just to create elegant and unusual designs but to also create tremendous memories that will last forever.
I have always had a passion for this, because all the time I was in school I was engaged in usher jobs, and whenever I entered the hall, it seems like magic, so I’ve always wanted to know how the magic was created and that was how I enrolled in an event academy and became a certified event planner and a decorator.

Can you describe/outline your typical day?
A typical day for me as an event planner brims with excitement and multitasking. Mornings commence with reviewing timelines and team coordination.
Midday involves reading business books and design meetings. Afternoons are consumed by client consultations and budget management. Evenings often entail networking events, finalizing contracts, and creative brainstorming. Flexibility and adaptability are the keystones of my dynamic routine.
How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
Family plays a significant role in my life as an entrepreneur, impacting my journey in various ways. They provide emotional support, understanding the demands of the entrepreneurial lifestyle.
What motivates you?
I’m driven by the desire to create extraordinary experiences that leave lasting impressions. My motivation stems from the thrill of transforming visions into reality, orchestrating seamless events, and witnessing the joy on clients’ faces. My pursuit of perfection, creativity, and the art of crafting unforgettable moments continuously fuels my passion.
What is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is often the fear of failure. I fear my ideas not resonating with the market, financial setbacks, and the possibility of my business not succeeding. However, I recognize that taking calculated risks, learning from failures, and persevering ultimately lead to growth and success.
How do you define success?
I would define success as achieving a reputation for professionalism and creativity. Continuous growth, client satisfaction, a thriving business, and giving to society positively.
What is your favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
One of my favourite aspects of being an entrepreneur is the freedom to shapely my own destiny. To relish the ability to pursue my passions, make independent decisions, and take risks in pursuit of my vision. The excitement and satisfaction derived from building something meaningful and leaving a lasting impact are truly gratifying.
If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
If given the chance to start my career over, I would prioritize seeking mentorship and guidance early on. I would invest more time in learning from experienced individuals, leveraging my knowledge, and avoiding common pitfalls. I would also embrace failure as a valuable learning opportunity and take more calculated risks without hesitation.
What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Adaptability: The ability to quickly adjust to changing circumstances, market trends, and customer needs is crucial. Entrepreneurs must be flexible, open-minded, and willing to pivot their strategies when necessary

Effective Communication: For entrepreneurs to explain their vision, close transactions, forge connections with people, and inspire others, they must have strong communication skills. They must be able to communicate ideas clearly, listen intently, and establish relationships with various levels of stakeholders.
