As you’ve probably noticed, fashion trends in this day and age are eclectic, so we’re used to new denim trends being equally eclectic. Recent seasons have seen ruffled, pearl-embellished, and dramatically flared denim, but the predominant trend on the S/S 18 runways was decidedly more classic. It’s so simple, in fact, that you may even already own it.
Dark denim never went away, per say, but it’s certainly taken a back seat to vintage washes and black denim in recent seasons. But if the runways of Versace, Max Mara, Tibi, Tom Ford, Fendi, Adam Selman, Chloé, Derek Lam, and many more are any indication, it’s going to be everywhere this spring and beyond, in the form of inky indigo washes and raw denim.
Perhaps the best thing about dark denim is that it’s one of the most versatile of trends, as it transitions seamlessly from the office to a night out to off-duty days. Ready to try it (again)? Read on to see just a few runway examples of how it’s done in 2018 and shop our favorite dark denim pieces on the market.
