EM went on a survey and found out not many people are knowledgeable in the tech industry let alone, females who teach tech, but we found this amazing lady, Ekwutosi Cynthia and quickly had an interview with her, we asked our questions and she answered. Do have a pleasant read!
EM- PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
Hi, my name is Ekwutosi Cynthia oke, and from Nsukka, Enugu state Nigeria graduated from UNN where I studied literature but currently a customer success analyst and a trainer at the digital witch community where I teach people on-demand IT skills that would enable them to work from home with international companies and earn dollars. Also the first child in a family of eight.
EM- HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THIS FIELD?
Since 2018, I started with cloud computing and that’s why I majored in development engineering.
EM- WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO INTO THIS FIELD?
My life hasn’t been so planned just like the way I studied literature when I was a science student.
After serving I got an admission to further my education for a master’s degree but my dad died so I needed to support my mum and siblings, I had to start working then I got a job as a realtor but it wasn’t challenging, and going into IT wasn’t planned, I was going through YouTube, I picked interest in it and noticed its something I would love to do in a long term.
EM- TIPS ON HOW YOU STARTED?
I started by watching YouTube videos, subscribed to a trainer’s account, and started researching and moving on to paying for courses.
EM- YOU ARE A FORCE TO RECKON WITH IN THE SOCIETY, HOW DID YOU GROW TO THIS LEVEL?
I don’t know how big I have become but currently, I have trained more than 25,000 people and students all over the world, but I would say consistency is the key, and have motivation. My motivation is my dad, I loved him so much but sadly he died before witnessing what I have become, so I watch out for my siblings to give them the best.
Secondly, I want people to be financially free just like I am, it hurts to be born into trenches but we don’t choose where we are born but what we become. So that’s it, helping people become financially free.
EM: HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?
I define success on the number of people who have succeeded because of my existence, earlier last year, I took mental note of everyone living their dream life, traveling to UK or Canada opening their dream shop, etc which made me understand I have done so well for people. I’m happy a lot of people are happy and that’s my definition of success.
EM: IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO START YOUR CAREER OVER AGAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
I feel I wasted some years not knowing what to do, I would have gone back to school to study computer engineering or IT.
EM- EVERY BUSINESS-MINDED SUCCESSFUL PERSON HAS A STORY, WHAT CHALLENGES DID YOU FACE?
First of all, training by curating content that appeals to the people.
Secondly, the challenges of Nigerians, once a Nigerian pays for a service they make sure they get the value directly or indirectly not considering the learning phase, they just want to earn.
EM- WHAT SETS YOU APART?
I also studied education, and it has made me understand and properly manage my students and it has given me an edge to impact knowledge being a customer success analyst who goes the extra mile to ensure my students see succeeding
EM- YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO MANY, WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
A lot of people inspire me, but my dad was one, who always went out of his way to help people, I also read a lot of books, and seeing people succeed gives me joy. Imagine waking up to prayers from students, mothers, husbands wife and seeing them testify to getting a good job is amazing.
EM- WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
I just want to be better than who I was yesterday, and seeing my siblings having a better life motivates me.
EM- PLEASE KINDLY SHARE SOME OF YOUR SECRETS TO BECOMING SUCCESSFUL WITH EM?
I don’t think I have a secret but one thing is you need to set goals and have motivation. And take courses, I remember investing all the money I made between 2019/2020 paying for different courses and people thought I was crazy and lastly be consistent! Don’t jump from one niche to another. Stick to one
EM- WHAT ADVICE WILL YOU GIVE TO YOUTHS WITH THE ZEAL TO GROW?
