CEO, EL ARTISTA NOOK ARTISTRY, OYINKEPREYE TOUN SHARES SOME BEAUTIFUL INSIGHTS OF HER BEAUTY AND LIFE STYLE REGIMEN WHICH EVERY BEAUTY ENTHAUSIATS WILL FIND USEFUL.
# GROOMING REGIMEN…… I was blessed with good skin so I keep it simple. I have combination skin. My t-zone is oily with visible pores around my nose area and the rest of my face is normal. I use the Simple product line from the UK. I use their moisturizing facial wash to wash my face every morning and night. When I wear makeup, I wash twice then I pat 60% of the moisture from my face and apply my light moisturizer and I let it air dry. I use their scrub twice a week and try to use a mask alongside that but not always.
# LOOKS….. I love color so for me it boils down to how many colors I want to use for that particular day. In a look I use at least 4 colors between transition colors and lid colors and my lip colors always depend on my mood. Sometimes I go nude and sometimes I go loud.
# PERSONAL BEAUTY TIPS…..The personal beauty tips I have are;
1) Always have makeup up wipes by your bed side it will come in handy on a lazy day when you just can’t make it to the bathroom to take off your makeup properly.
2) When cleansing your face, the minimum amount of time you should spend lathering with soap should be the whole duration of the birthday song. So while washing your face you can start singing “happy birthday to you…” and at the end of the song you have spent the minimum amount of time you should spend washing your face either in the morning or at night. You can go beyond this, infact you should but at least if you don’t have time you know at the end of the song, you’re good!
3) Train yourself not to touch your face all the time. Our hands have more bacteria than our feet because we constantly touch things around us transferring that to our face at any given time. This could lead to break outs and all sorts of untraceable reactions.
4) When applying makeup if you have a small lid like me, always make sure your eyelid color extends a bit above your crease line so when you look up the whole color doesn’t disappear.
5.) When looking for products that work for your skin, expensive isn’t always better. Sometimes your salvation can be in cheap home made products. So start cheap and work your way up. Also stick to one product if it works for you, you don’t need 10 things if 3 things have all you need.
# WHAT I DO FOR INNER HEALTH…… I’m not big on salads and fruits which is bad but I try to make up for it with my vegetable soups. I eat them alone, with swallows, Rice, Yam, Moi Moi, Eko etc whatever floats my boat. I try to drink as much water as possible and make sure I sleep well.
# FAVOURITE SCENT AND WHY…….My Favourite scent is Armani Code because the first time I smelt it the first two words that came to my head were sexy and feminine. It’s the only perfume I feel every girl should have in their closet for date nights
# FITNESS…… For fitness, I used to work out everyday but I got busy and that ended but I love to walk. I take long walks to the supermarket in my area and back home. If I have to go anyway I power walk there, it has become so bad that my friends constantly complain when we are out that I run away from them and they can’t keep up. I also love to swim, making sure I try to do at least ten laps because we have a small pool.
# FOOD AND DAILY ESSENTIALS…… I love variety so I am constantly experimenting with foods and recipes and even post them on snapchat making people send me messages always wondering what new thing I’m cooking up. I always have to have my tea, or chia tea or coffee, if it’s hot and sweet, I’m having it! I am a foodie so I’m always willing to try different foods from different cultures. I guess the only things I’m careful to eat are the animal parts. If I can’t identify them, I don’t eat them.
# HAIR CARE SECRET AND PRODUCTS…… For my hair it is currently short, platinum blonde and natural. I’ve let it grow out a bit but the previous color treatment often leaves me with dry hair and there is no better moisture than water so I make sure to wet my hair during shower time and the I apply Cantu shea butter leave-in conditioner, apply coconut oil, apply eco styling gel and I use a styling foam to rub my hair in circular motions. I allow it to dry, part way and then I use an afro comb to pick it out and loosen the curls formed by the foam. And then of course I use edge control. I use the treseme curl hydrating shampoo and conditioner at least once a week to wash my hair and twice a month. I also do an in-home protein treatment with honey, mayonnaise and eggs mixed together and applied from at least 1hour to 3 hours. I always have to do a moisturising treatment after because protein treatments make the hair hard and with my color and the dryness it gives my hair, I have to keep my curls constantly moisturised. For those out there with color treated hair, keep it moisturised or your hair will break.
