The Yeye Cabaret 2020 press conference, themed “This Woman’s Work” was nothing short of a huge success. The conference which took place at L.E.A.R.N, Surulere, Lagos on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 was opened with a speech by the head of PR, Yetty Ogunnubi. She shared her thoughts on what a great initiative the Yeye Cabaret event is and how it is even more interesting that the event is organized by a man.
The convener, Ayo Ogundipe talked about the inception of Yeye Cabaret, as well as what the journey has been like for the team. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who has been part of the support system to what was supposed to be a one-off event. Ayo Ogundipe mentioned that the event was borne out of the need to include all mothers in the celebration of the day, as opposed to what was majorly celebrated in churches.
Bukky Asehinde, the face of this year’s event and the CEO of BellAfricana, confirms what a humbling experience it has been for herself and her daughter. She also showed BellAfricana’ssupport by mentioning how they have been spreading the word to their audience.
One of the partners, Yetunde Edunjobi expressed how glad she was for the Yeye Cabaret platform because she knows mental health issues, particularly Post-Partum Depression is not really talked about, especially as someone who experienced it. She will be focusing on creating content around sustaining the conversation.
A representative of A&D referral services, Dr. Yinka Jibunohbriefly discussed what Post-partum depression is, the causes and how to get help. She also shared how A&D referral services will be partnering with Yeye Cabaret.
Two of the lead actresses and the producer for the theatre production, Mojisola Kadiri, Theodora Onaopoi and AlabaAdesokun promised that it will be an evening of excitement, entertainment and education through the musical that will be performed. They emphasized the importance of the production which is to highlight Post-partum Depression but in a subtle manner.
Giving the closing remarks, Ayo Ogundipe said to expect the biggest Mother’s Day event in Lagos, and possibly Nigeria at large. He went on to announce partners and sponsors, some of which include Three Crowns, Africa Movie Channel, Grin Booth, Zaron Cosmetics, Bogobiri, Amal Botanicals and Exquisite Magazine. He implored media to support the initiative and help promote to the largest audience possible. In addition, the convener also called out for more sponsors because he believes this event should be highly invested in.
Yeye Cabaret is an event set to celebrate Mothers to an evening of fine dining and premium entertainment like dance, music, spoken word and theatre. The major highlight of the event is the musical which focuses on Maternal Mental Health; PostpartumDepression. This year being the 7th edition is themed “This woman’s work’’ and is set to take place on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at The Podium, Lekki, Lagos.
