“Black Mail“, the action thriller directed by Obi Emelonye and stars OC Ukeje, has been confirmed for an unprecedented simultaneous theatrical release in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. The multiple award-winning film will begin screening across over 100 UK cinemas from August 26, 2022.
The feature length film ‘Black mail’ revolves around Chinda, a well-known London actor who becomes embroiled in a sextortion lawsuit brought against him by the criminal oligarch and digital fraudster Igor. Cases of mistaken identification, webcam hacking, and threats of violence endanger Chinda’s family as he urgently searches for the offenders.
‘Blackmail’ addresses current concerns such as data protection and cybersecurity in a society that has become increasingly reliant on online communication. It’s stellar cast include multiple award-winning actor O.C Ukeje (Half of a Yellow Sun, The Wedding Party), Netflix’s Top Boy actor Alessandro Babalola, Nicolay Shulik, Julia Holden, Natalia Nyudyurbegova, Jelena Borovskaya, Tony Richardson and Emma Fletcher.
Since its official outing at the British Urban Film Festival (BUFF 2021) where it screened as the opening film, Blackmail has maintained a steady trajectory, recording nominations and wins at international awards and festivals.
