David Tlale is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most interesting and forward-thinking fashion designers. So it came as no surprise when the trailblazing designer decided to showcase his latest autumn/winter ’21 collection titled ‘Classica Icons’, digitally.
The pre-recorded, virtual fashion show served as a call-to-action. For what? To encourage us to support the local clothing and textile industry, for the fashion community to bring about awareness of sustainability in SA and embrace (and adhere to) national lockdown regulations.
David wanted to show his solidarity and support during the struggle against COVID-19 in the most stylish way possible. Some of the models were even wearing masks made out of ostrich feathers. Fight the pandemic… but make it fashion, darling!
Say what now? David Tlale just showcased a virtual fashion show?
David said that putting the show together was a serious challenge. They had to cut down the models from 55 to 17, and that he is gearing himself up for a global takeover. This is how it’s done, people.
Can we please (virtually) hand him the award for being the most productive person during lockdown right now?
The collection ‘Classica Icons’ is based on all of David Tlale’s signature designs, focusing on impeccable craftsmanship, patterns and strong tailoring for both women and menswear.
