Africa Fashion week Nigeria, was held in Lagos state and it was definitely felt. It was really the buzz of Nigerian fashion as two prominent Nigerian style force came together to host one of the biggest fashion shows.
Ayo Olugbade the chief executive officer of Lagos Fashion Fair and Princess Ronke Ademiluyi founder of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria combined to host one of the biggest fashion show in Eko Hotel and suites, where Africa was showcased in the most positive light and blooming colours with over 60 creative fashion designers.
The African fashion week Nigeria, highlighted displays of the magnificence of Nigerian textures, approving the flexibility of the age long creation innovation of Adire texture production, the event also showcased the creativity of several designers exemplifying unity in cultural diversity.
This grandeur event was graced by Dr Olufolake Adulrazaq, the First Lady of kwara state and founder of Ajike people support Center, the famous designer and stylist Toyin Lawani, a well known skit creator Samuel Perry a.k.a Broda Shaggi, Mercy Aigbe, Denrele Edu, Funke Bucknor and other celebrities.
Each day had its unique display of fabrics and fashion items as guests arrived and models strutted down the runway during the African fashion week Nigeria. Kaffy kreate showcased a beautiful collection of Ankara prints and Adire tie and die, a combination of short summer pants and midriff overcoats.
Little weaver’s collection had us smiling as we watched kids strut the runway clothed in print fabrics highlighting ceremonial wears, it was a colorful event as many other designers displayed their breathtaking collections.
The master class session kickstarted with a speech by Mercy Aigbe on the value of attending film school to develop one’s skill rather than simply entering the film industry unprepared.
Samuel perry aka broda shaggi, advised young content creators to start using their phones to make skits rather than waiting to own a camera.
The First Lady Dr Olufolake Abdulrazaq expressed how delighted she was to be a part of another creative initiative of Princess Ronke Ademiluyi founder of the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria, creating pathways to wealth and economic empowerment through strengthening the place of a Nigerian fabric and fashioning it to meet current trends, she also highlighted how the creative industry can drive socio-economic development in Africa.
She commended the house of Oduduwa and Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II and Ooni of Ife for championing the sustenance of our heritage and also creating a pathway to wealth and promoting creativity among young Nigerians.
Some distinguished individuals were presented awards on the last day of the event for their contributions and outstanding role to the growth of the fashion industry in Nigeria.
It was a stunning occasion with a splash of colours, fabrics, designs and fashion graced by designers from all over the world.
