These developments deserve recognition, yet they also create higher expectations. Every completed project naturally leads residents to ask what comes next. They want existing infrastructure maintained, new projects delivered on schedule and public services that remain efficient long after commissioning ceremonies have ended. Consistency matters just as much as ambition.
The addition of the plus in THEMES+ reflects another important consideration. Development reaches its full value when every resident has a fair opportunity to benefit from it. Young people looking for employment, women building businesses, persons living with disabilities and families seeking access to quality public services all have a place within that vision. Success becomes more meaningful when progress can be felt across different groups of people.
Lagos has never stood still. Its growth presents opportunities alongside challenges, and every administration inherits responsibilities that require practical solutions rather than temporary fixes. The THEMES+ agenda provides a framework through which those solutions can be pursued. The responsibility now lies in sustaining the pace of implementation, measuring results honestly and responding where improvements are still needed.
Development is not measured only by the number of projects announced. It is measured by the daily experiences of residents who use public transport, visit hospitals, attend schools, operate businesses and depend on government services. That is where the true impact of any agenda becomes visible.
As Lagos continues on this path, public interest should remain focused not only on the promises within the THEMES+ agenda, but also on the progress made under each pillar. Every completed project, every improved service and every fulfilled commitment strengthens confidence that long-term planning can produce meaningful results. Equally, every delay or unmet expectation serves as a reminder that development demands accountability alongside ambition.
