21 Savage and Metro Booming have released a follow-up album to 2016’s Savage Mode album tagged Savage Mode 2.
The nine-tracked album features vocals from Drake, Young Thug, Young Nudy, Zaytoven, and more.
According to Pitchfork, “The pair announced the album earlier this week with a video directed by Gibson Hazard and narrated by Morgan Freeman. Houston design firm Pen & Pixel, known for its distinct aesthetic across thousands of Southern rap records, designed the cover. It’s the first project from the firm since it shuttered in 2003.”
In the trailer, Freeman was heard saying “The difference is, at least a snitch is human. But a rat is a f**kin’ rat. Period.” This statement makes reference to Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose confession in court warranted an arrest for 21 Savage in 2019.
