Mo Abudu has recently signed a deal with Netflix to co-produce two literary masterpieces from Lola Shoneyin and Wole Soyinka.

The media mogul and producer through EbonyLife (her production company) will produce two new Nigerian originals plus licensed films and a series for Netflix.

Lola Shoneyin took to Twitter to acknowledge the great news. She thanked Mo Abudu and Netflix. She said:

“Sometimes, dreams take years… Thank you to my brilliant producer @MoAbudu for all your hard work. Thank you, @netflix for believing in the story.”

Netflix said,

“We’re thrilled about this first-of-its-kind partnership in Africa that will bring some of Nigeria — and Africa’s — most iconic storytelling to screen. We look forward to supporting Mo as she brings all these diverse Nigerian stories to the world,” Ghettuba said in a statement.”

Lola Shoneyin’s novel will be adapted as a series, while Wole Soyinka’s play will be made into a movie. Soyinka said that he is excited to see Mo Abudu’s company make such progress in the male-dominated space.

This is coming as a result of Netflix showing its interest in other Nigerian and African movies and series.
