Matthew M. Williams has been made the new Creative Director of Givenchy. The appointment took effect yesterday.
Michael will be in charge of all creative activities for both men and women’s collections.
He is the founder of cult street-culture brand 1017 Alyx 9SM and also a major player in the luxury streetwear scene. Williams replaced Clare Waight Keller who left in April.
Givenchy announced its new Creative Director on its official Instagram page.
Sidney Toledano, the CEO of Givenchy’s parent company LVMH, commented that he is very happy to see Williams join the LVMH Group. Williams, who once took part in the LVMH prize.
His appointment marks a noticeable shift in the brand’s taste of creative direction.
I believe his singular vision of modernity will be a great opportunity for Givenchy to write its new chapter with strength and success.
