Let’s meet Oyinloluwa Akeredolu, the CEO of Honeysville Communications, a digital agency focused on projecting the vision of your brand to your target audience in the most effective way. Let’s read more about her.
Tell us about Yourself
My name is Oyinloluwa Akeredolu, and my story starts with fascination. I got fascinated with the media from a very early age as I wondered how all the pictures, commercials, presentations, broadcasts, news items, advertisements and every other form of media were put together. I got fascinated not with the ones in the spotlight but with the ones behind the scenes.
This fascination quickly turned into curiosity and then passion. 7 years later, post graduating from the University of Leeds with an MA in Advertising and Marketing, here I am sharing with you what I do at Honeysville Communications.
What does your business do, and how it started
Honeysville is a digital agency with a mission to project the vision of your brand to your target audience in the most effective way, digitally, and with a vision to transform businesses and ultimately transform lives.
Honeysville focuses on small and mid-business owners burdened with scaling up and reaching the right target market on a budget.
How do you solve your customers’ challenges?
Every brand is unique. Using a ‘one size fits all’ model would be detrimental to their growth; hence it starts with a situation analysis of each brand, then data-driven strategies to solve their challenges.
Who are your ideal customers?
SMEs, entrepreneurs, large corporations, and everyone looking to optimize their businesses/ brands online.
Can you describe/outline your typical day?
After saying my prayers and observing hygiene routines, I start my day by checking my emails/ WhatsApp business messages to respond promptly to current and potential clients. Then I use my to-do list on the Reminders app to get started on projects in order of priority. I also record and develop content for my business’s social platforms.
How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
I am currently not in a position to say how family life has affected my being an entrepreneur.
What motivates you?
The simple fact is that I was created with a purpose. Knowing that God is counting on me to make a difference in my little corner with the gifts He has placed in my hands is what keeps me going.
What is your greatest fear?
I used to be afraid of failing until I had a perception shift. Rock bottom moments are not only learning curves, and they are foundational bricks for building us as individuals.
How do you define success?
Success to me is achieving your purpose. There are no general parameters. They are unique to each individual. When you are aligned with your purpose on earth, and you thrive in it, you are successful.
What is your favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
The thrill of working on a new project. When strategy sessions turn into executions and give the projected results.
If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Nothing. I believe every phase of my life, the ups and downs were necessary to build me.
What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Guts, Grit and Gusto
Who has been your greatest inspiration?
Oprah Winfrey
What advice would you give to people who want to become entrepreneurs?
In the famous tagline of one popular brand – Just do it. Stop overthinking. Your business idea may be what the world needs. Stop trying to be perfect before launching out.
What business-related book has inspired you the most?
The Richest Man in Babylon by George S Clason
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?
The curious case of Oyinloluwa Akeredolu
