International Day of the Girl Child is an international observance day declared by the United Nations; it is also called the Day of the Girl. Since October 11, 2012, the International Girl Child Day has been celebrated annually. It is a way of raising awareness of issues facing girls internationally surrounding education, nutrition, child marriage, legal and medical rights.
