What else is there to do asides being the highest-paid female athlete in history? That’s right, a dabble into fashion won’t be a bad idea, and that’s just the move Naomi Osaka is opting for right now.
The 23-year-old who recently won her third grand slam title at the last US open, is featured in Louis Vuitton’s spring-summer 2021 campaign, one that also announces her as the brand’s latest Global House Ambassador.
On the news, Naomi Osaka revealed that she had a connection with the brand as she made it a tradition to get her mum a Louis Vuitton bag on her birthdays since she turned 16. She also described the ambassadorship as a “full-circle moment.”
In another statement, she made reference to Nicolas Ghesquière (LV’s Artistic Director of Women’s Collections) and her Japanese heritage, saying “It is such an honor to work with Nicolas— he’s a designer I admire so much and we share a mutual love of Japanese culture and style. To become global brand ambassador is truly a dream come true for me.”
The tennis star is also currently preparing for the commencement of the postponed 2021 Tokyo Olympics, slated to hold from the 23rd of July to August 8th.
