On Sunday, August 13th, 2023, a new Miss South Africa will be crowned at the Sun International’s SunBet Arena located in Time Square, Pretoria. The anticipation for this event has been building up, with the finalists selected through a captivating reality series named “Crown Chasers.” This series, which has been airing weekly since July 9th, 2023, has whittled down the candidates, and the time is nearly here to meet the winner.

The forthcoming Miss South Africa will receive the prestigious crown, a brand-new creation named Mowana, symbolizing the Tree of Life. The organizers emphasize that as the newly crowned Miss SA takes on the role of a role model and a South African representative, she will carry the weight of the nation’s heritage and one of its most iconic symbols: a tree that embodies the essence of life.

The innovative concept for the Mowana crown was conceived by Ursula Pule, the creative director and co-founder of NUNGU DIAMONDS™, which proudly sponsors the new Miss South Africa crown.

Returning as the host for the Miss South Africa Finale is the vibrant Bonang Matheba, who expresses her excitement about the role: “I am thrilled to once again be hosting the Miss South Africa show this year. The pageant holds significant importance in our country, and being part of it for the third time is an honor.”

The esteemed panel of judges for this year’s competition includes the reigning Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel, Leandie du Randt, Devi Sankaree Govender, Jo-Ann Strauss, and the renowned Thuso Mbedu, who is both an award-winning figure and a brand ambassador for L’Oréal Paris.

For the grand finale, South Africa’s leading fashion designers including Gert-Johan Coetzee, Shelli Winer, Sherif Tailor, William de Beer, and Tracy B will be responsible for dressing the top seven contestants. Willet Designs Couture’s William de Beer will present the opening number, while Shelli Handcrafted and Traci B are collaborating on resort and swimwear designs. Gert-Johan Coetzee will add his touch to the evening looks, ensuring a splendid and memorable show.

The Miss South Africa pageant stands as one of the most significant television productions in the country, representing a cherished institution that holds a special place in South African culture. As the day of the crowning approaches, the excitement builds, promising a spectacular event that celebrates beauty, talent, and the nation’s heritage.
