After announcing a $100 million fund for Youtube Black Voices in June last year, Youtube has now released the list of content creators and artists that made the first set Youtube Black Voices Class of 2021.

This initiative was started as “part of the comprehensive work currently underway to make YouTube a place where Black artists, creators and users can share their stories and be protected.”

The class of 2021 is made up of creators and artists from the U.S., U.K., Kenya, Brazil, Australia, South Africa and Nigeria and includes musicians, beauty entrepreneurs, comedians, activists, poets, personal trainers, teachers and photographers.

Youtube is set to offer seed funding for channel development, support, workshops and training and a networking program to support creators. It plans on extending this program to more than 500 creators globally through 2023.

Some Nigerians that made the list include Fireboy DML, Akah Nnani, Tomike Adeoye, Dimma Umeh, Lade Owolabi and Dodos Uvieghara.

The Youtube Black Voices Class of 2021 has been divided into the Creator Class of 2021 and the Artist Class OF 2021.
