Nigerian designer Lanre DaSilva Ajayi’s (LDA) is currently showcasing her Spring/Summer 2015 ‘Rock Delight’ collection currently showcasing at Vogue Talent, the yearly Vogue Italia event during Milan Fashion Week. This showcase is from 17- 23 September 2014.

LDA met with some top Media and Fashion personalities, they included American Vogue Editor-in-Chief- Anna Wintour, Vogue Italia Editor-in-Chief- Franca Sozzanni, British Journalist and Editor- Suzy Menkes, Popular Blogger –Bryan Boy and Editor Vogue China- –Angelica Cheung, Creative Director of GTBank Lagos Fashion & Design Week –Omoyemi Akerele and many others.

Talking about the collection to Vogue Italia, designer Lanre says the key inspirations, materials, colours in the collection are:

I draw inspiration for the collection from the famous Olumo Rock, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nigeria that sits in the ancient city center of Abeokuta – a name which means ‘under the rock’ – which is the largest city and capital of Ogun state in Southwest Nigeria. The collection features sharp silhouettes, strict forms and minimal cuts using Fabrics such as 100% silk, Lace, Traditional Wax, and Velvet. The colors featured are Red, Green, Pink, Orange, Purple, and Yellow.

 

When asked about how she produces, she says:

The Lanre Da-silva Ajayi Brand creates and produces in Lagos, Nigeria. Fabrics are sourced locally in Africa and international.

 

Talking about where pieces of the brand can be bought from, she says:

 The pieces are sold at the Flagship boutique store in Lagos, Temple Muse 21 in Lagos, 41 LUXE in Wuse Abuja, MarketHub.com and Piave 37 in Milan Italy.

Lanre goes on to explain her biggest dream and her projects for the future:

It was an awesome experience for me to stock at yoox.com. This came about when the editor of Vogue Italia Franca Sozzani visited Nigeria through the introduction of Kola Karim the CEO of Shoreline Energy,  also retailed at Selfridges in London, through the GTB Ndani/Style House Files project, Dolce and Gabbana Spiga 2 concept store, now currently in Piave 37 in Milan Italy.
