January was an amazing month for the Exquisite Magazine Against Cervical Cancer (EMACC) team as we took on Cervical Cancer awareness with a purpose.

#SmearIt and #GetScreened were the by-lines and we had a number of celebrities like Kiki Omeili, Tonto Dikeh-Churchill, Sunkanmi, Susan Peters, Lola Omotayo-Okoye, Olive Emodi, Ayo Thompson, Tayo Afolabi and Layole Oyatogun smear their makeup and take a photo. Everyone was encouraged to take selfies to show that women should go for a Pap Smear to check if they have Cervical Cancer, a 100% preventable disease that still affects women due to lack of proper knowledge.

After going on Radio and TV Tours to sensitize the public, we had the exclusive Fund raising Brunch on Saturday, January 28th, 2017. Personalities like Susan Peters, Ayo Van Elmer, Sunkanmi, Glory Edozien, Tayo Afolabi, Kemi Olawoye, Yetunde Ogunnubi among others came out to support the EMACC Convener Tewa Onasanya and her team. Amidst food and drink, the aim of the event was shared and funds were raised for the free screening program.

Sunday, January 29th saw the entire team at Sweet kiwi for the pop up sale. People came out to shop, knowing that all proceeds were going towards helping women get a free pap smear as we promised.

The world then celebrated World Cancer Day on Saturday, February 4th and we were not left out.

Together with Oceanic Health, we went on an awareness walk that also featured free health screening. Afterwards, we gave out Breast, Prostate and Cervical cancer screening vouchers.
