Egypt has a coastline at the Mediterranean Sea in the North and the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea in the east. It is bordered by Libya in the West, the Palestinian territory (Gaza strip) and Israel in North East and Sudan in the south.

Did you know that Egypt shares maritime borders with Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey?

The official language of Egypt is Arabic. Should the language barrier be an issue? No! In tourist places, most Egyptians speak English.

When planning a trip to Egypt, we recommend that you consider visiting any of these cities – Cairo, Luxor, Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada.

Amid ancient monuments, 19th-century splendour and the buzz of modern technology, Cairo, Egypt’s capital, roars with life. The food in Egypt is delicious, you must try the beef and chicken kebabs when you visit. Their rice is well seasoned and is similar to the Nigerian jollof rice.

When is the best time to travel to Egypt? Egypt is a year-round destination – with its desert climate, Egypt is typically hot, sunny, and dry with little rainfall. Summer months are between June and August and winter from November to January.

Travel essentials: One cannot underestimate the effect of the Egyptian heat, particularly if you are travelling during the hottest parts of the summer. Bring a hat (ideally one with a brim) and a bandana with which you can mop your brow but also covers your nose if a sandstorm erupts. Be sure to pack sunscreen and summer wears.

Safety is a major concern that pops into people’s heads when they think about Egypt. But as with any place around the world, you just need to be aware of your surroundings and look after your belongings.  Don’t let the scary things that happen in the world hinder your curiosity to explore.

What do you need when going to Egypt?  Your international passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure. You need your yellow fever vaccination card and Covid-19 PCR negative certificate test result required before you board. You also need an Egyptian visa.

The unit of currency used in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound. I don’t advise that you change a lot of money to Egyptian Pounds because US Dollars is widely accepted, although you will be given change in their currency when you pay with Dollars. $200 is the most that you should change at first and you can spend Dollars if you need more.
