Living on a budget does not mean you cannot celebrate special days, there are options available to mark a special day…

A short guest lists. People have different ideas on how they want to celebrate or mark their birthdays, however if you are on a budget, organizing an intimate party might be your next best option. Your guest list should strictly include those who are close to you, your family and a few close friends.

Calling it quits. Opting out is definitely a consideration, however one could compromise with other ideas. Organising a pre-birthday photoshoot is a great idea as opposed to an actual party. Calling up your best friends and a professional photographer, is a great way to mark your birthday.

DIY (do it yourself). Considering your pockets, a DIY plan could be employed. For instance, you could prepare the food yourself over hiring a caterer. Decorations too could also be taken care of with little to no costs. There are a handful of affordable easy decorations to create with the help of the right tools and a guide book. Finally, the cost of hiring an event planner, could be taken off your budget list. Do some research on how to successfully plan a party, take notes and pointers before applying them. When doing this, do not blindly follow provided tips, try going for options which works best for you.

Go digital. Planning for birthday parties, involve a lot of planning and printing of invitation cards. With todays digital world, you can consider sending messages, or emails. This could save you a lot of printing expenses.

Use your network. Everyone belongs to one form of social circle or the other, take advantage of this, and use the network of people around you…For instance, a fellow church member may decide to rent out his/her event hall for half the price.

A house party, is a wonderful idea to consider when you are on a budget. Organising a house party comes with pro’s and con’s, so if it is for your kids you might want some extra help and supervision over the children, and if it is for an adult, you may want to consider stacking valuable home decorations in a secure location.

Consider an ally. Combined birthdays are very common, It could be with a friend, who’s birthday falls on the same day or close to yours, where you both come together, and combine activities, including costs and planning.
