The streets of Ijebu Ode lit up in dazzling style as Ojude Oba 2025 unfolded into a spectacular display of tradition, fashion, and community. Known as one of Nigeria’s most colourful cultural festivals, this year’s edition was a full-blown style showdown—where coordinated outfits, bold fabrics, and head-turning sunglasses stole the spotlight.
If you’re into fashion, heritage, and unapologetic glam, Ojude Oba was the place to be. Picture every shade of the rainbow on full display, vibrant textures dancing through the streets, and a city transformed into a living runway.
Held annually shortly after Eid al-Kabir, the festival is more than just a fashion affair—it’s a deeply rooted cultural celebration for the people of Ijebu Ode. At its heart are the regberegbe (age-grade groups), who parade through town in perfectly synchronized outfits, paying homage to the Awujale, the revered monarch of Ijebuland.
And this year, they came ready.
Age-grade groups made grand entrances—some on horseback, honouring long-standing family traditions, others strutting confidently like royalty on a red carpet. The women dazzled in buba and iro crafted from lace, aso-oke, adire, brocade, and damask. But it was the styling that made jaws drop: geles matched shoes, shoes matched bags, and bags matched intricate jewellery. Even accessories were flawlessly coordinated.
The men weren’t left behind. Draped in majestic agbadas of every hue, they completed their looks with stylish fila caps, coral beads, and elegant walking sticks—the ultimate symbols of tradition-meets-swagger.
And just when you thought the style couldn’t go any harder—the sunglasses appeared. From oversized to sporty, colourful to retro-chic, every lens told a story.
