LUEDER unveils its latest collection, The Shell, at INTERVENTION III during Berlin Fashion Week, delivering a neo-romantic and dystopian vision that explores themes of voyeurism, surveillance, and self-expression. The collection delves into the psychological and emotional layers of modern existence, embodying the tension between concealment and revelation.

In her new collection, Marie continues her inquiry into archetypal characters by imagining a variety of 21st-century archetypes, such as the hooligan, the decadent romantics, and the undead teenagers.

Inspired by the notion of “friendly stalking” and the feeling of being trapped—whether within oneself or a domestic environment—The Shell reimagines historical elements such as 19th-century tapestry, elaborate curtains, and carpet prints. The collection fuses these traditional aesthetics with an underground, rave-like energy, evoking the eerie grandeur of a derelict, possibly haunted, castle.

Concept & Inspiration

The Shell represents a journey of transformation—a shedding of armor to embrace bold self-expression. Drawing from cinematic influences such as Visconti’s Ludwig, the collection celebrates camp aesthetics, deep emotions, and the romanticized support of arts and craftsmanship. The catwalk show will transport audiences into a world where the past and the future marry into a contemporary vision.

The runway experience will be immersive, featuring custom carpets sponsored by Pointex, adorned with black-and-white images of LUEDER’s community—part mugshots, part spectral apparitions. Three grand chandeliers, designed by Tym Novikov, will hang above, refracting laser light and echoing the collection’s motto: an upside-down rose motif symbolizing a distorted, illusive reality.

Sound design by Simon Parris will incorporate a heartbeat-like ticking clock, the hum of drones, and a haunting, androgynous acapella voice, reinforcing the show’s surreal and cinematic ambiance.

LUEDER’s participation in INTERVENTION III during Berlin Fashion Week highlights the city’s reputation for fostering artistic expression and innovative design. The brand embraces Berlin’s rich cultural landscape, bringing together an audience that appreciates the intersection of fashion, art, and social commentary.

LUEDER won this season’s Berlin Contemporary Prize, awarded by The Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises / Projekt Zukunft.
