Wrinkling is a natural process that comes with ageing and as much as we dread it, it has to happen. We often times use anti-wrinkling products to prevent it but some of our habits can cause us to wrinkle before time… Yes! you can get wrinkles even without been so old. Most of us don’t even know that we are causing harm to our skin. Below are some of our habits that can cause us to have wrinkles:
Smoking: Smoking causes us to wrinkle. According to recent studies, smoking speeds up the wrinkling process of our skin. So kamdolls, quit smoking and lose those wrinkles!
Diets: We all know the saying “you are what you eat” and most of us don’t believe it, well, it’s 100% correct. Cutting sugars and high glycemic foods like cakes, beers, soft drinks etc. can make you look older and could have a negative effect on your weight. Sugar molecules attach to the proteins in your skin causing them to be stiff and malformed. This leads to loss of facial elasticity, contours and fine lines. So cut down on your sugar intake, your skin will thank you!
Drinking: drinking causes wrinkling Alcohol dehydrates the skin. The morning after you drink alcohol, your skin appears less plump and dry, over time this can cause the skin to lose its elasticity and form wrinkles due to the dehydration.
Chewing gum: Chewing gum so often causes a type of wrinkle in the lower mouth. I know most of us chew gums but it is an easy habit to give up for the sake of our skin.
Leaving makeup on: Most times we get tired at night and sleep off without removing our makeup but this habit is detrimental to our skin!. The makeup and environmental pollutants we acquire during the day can seep into our pores and break down collagen and elastin. This can speed up your ageing process and cause wrinkles.
Picking pimples: Stop picking on zest/pimples. Let them dry out on their own or use beauty products for them. Each time we pick on them we damage our skin, cause scars and even wrinkles.
Stretching your skin to apply makeup: This is a common practice all ladies indulge in especially when applying mascara or applying lipsticks. We should apply our makeup without stretching our skin. This habit contributes to the formation of wrinkles.
Sleeping: Most times when we sleep and wake up we realize that we have sleeping wrinkles, over time this can cause actual wrinkling of the face. Sleeping on satin pillow case is recommended as this slide across the face.
