Son of Afrobeat icon, Fela Kuti, Femi Kuti has picked up from where his father stopped and even gone ahead to attain more streaks. Femi Kuti got his name into the Guinness World Records for the longest single note held on a saxophone. The talented musician, set this record at the New Africa Shrine in 2017 where he played for 51 minutes 33 seconds, beating the previous record set by Vann Burchfield who played for 47 minutes, 5.5 seconds.

  • Kaffy

Nigerian Celebrities That Have Broken Records in the Guinness World Records 2

Kafayat Shafau Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy, is probably the most successful professional dancer in Nigeria, and the fact that she too had broken a record in time past, proves that her success is as a result of hard work and talent. In 2006, she broke the record for the Longest Dance Party at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon. Since then, she has soared even higher, proving that success is a continuous process.

A lot of you might already know that Ayo Makun thrives as a successful comedian and filmmaker, but it might surprise you to know that he has also broken a world record. Interestingly, he didn’t break the record in comedy as you would expect. Rather, it was in film! He probably didn’t expect that 30 Days in Atlanta, a movie he produced and starred in, would generate over N182 million naira at the box office, making it the highest domestic grossing Nollywood movie. In 2017, the movie was officially recognised by the Guinness World Records as one of the highest domestic grossing movies in Nollywood, Bollywood, and Hollywood, starring among movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Good Job AY!

Nigerian Celebrities That Have Broken Records in the Guinness World Records 4

DJ Obi Ajuonuma also set a name for himself in the Guinness World Records when he went after the prize for the longest playing DJ by having a 10-Day Marathon! He played for 229 hours and 58 minutes in July 2016, and set a record in that area. The DJ even wanted to set a higher record but had to cave in due to health issues. According to a report from the BBC, the DJ was allowed only a five minute break every hour to pee. He beat the world record that was previously held by Portland’s Norbert Selmaj, by a staggering 40 hours! He still holds this record.
