FASHION NEWS - Everything You Need to Know About the Women's March This Weekend 1

On January 21, 2017, over six million women and allies from over 600 cities around the globe joined together to march for women’s rights and human rights, in what became known as the first-ever history-making Women’s March. Fast-forward a year later and new demonstrations have been planned worldwide for 2018, with the majority of them taking place this weekend (January 20 and 21). Some of the biggest marches (L.A., Washington D.C., and New York City) are all happening on January 20, while the official kickoff event will transpire in Las Vegas on Sunday. The motto this year? “Look Back. March Forward.”

This year’s Los Angeles event, specifically, is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. in Pershing Square, where attendees will hear from an impressive list of speakers. At 10:00 a.m. marchers will make their way toward Grand Park, where they will be met with a full lineup of festivities, including additional speeches from activists and celebrities, as well as live performances by Idina Menzel and Rachel Platten, to name a few.

Many in the fashion community have also come together to do their part to enact change and support this worldwide movement. For instance, shoe brand Tamara Mellon has created special tees that will be sent out (for free) to those who attend a Women’s March in their city (and post a photo of themselves on Instagram, tagging @tamaramellon and #marchwithTM)
